I imported my 2018 tax record on TurboTax Deluxe 2018 to TurboTax Premier 2019.
Early in the process of inputting data to TurboTax Premier 2019, I encounter this statement:
“Our records show that you got the standard deduction in 2018 instead of itemizing your deductions.”
However… Line 8 on Form 1040 for 2018 shows itemized deductions of $13,600… yet, Line 17 of Schedule A (Itemized Deductions) shows $8,066 (Line 18 of Schedule A remains unchecked).
Why the disagreement between these 2 entries?
And, why does TurboTax Premier 2019 report that I elected “Standard Deduction” in 2018?
How to resolve these issues?

$ 13,600 is the Std Ded for 2018....but for a Single person, age 65 or older (12,000 + 1600). (or younger but legally blind)
So it looks like Std Ded was used last year..
That's interesting! I don't ever recall seeing that information: Deduction = $12,000 + $1,600 if 65 or older! I'll assume that your information is correct!
Thanks.
