It is asking on the 2441 form to provide the EIN for our child care provider. When I do, it says it's incorrect and that it must be in social security number format. Why

Go back through the Child and Dependent Care Credit section and make sure you select that it was an organization. If you selected it was a person then it is going to ask for a social security number (See my screenshot). Let me know if that helps. You can also delete this section and enter again. 

1. Select Tax Tools from the left Column
2. Next Select Tools 
3. In the pop-up window, select "Delete a form"
4. When the list of forms in your return appears, look for "Form 2441" and delete.
5. Confirm that this is the correct form, click Continue, then choose Continue With My Return to return back to your return
