What are you trying to do? Is it asking for a property index number when you are entering information about your property taxes? That is a number that should be on your property tax bill that is sent to you from your county or whatever government body bills your property taxes.
Your property index number is not your federal ID number, and it probably is not on Form 1098. See Property Tax Number Information on the Illinois Department of Revenue web site. Here's an excerpt from that information.
"If you qualify for the Illinois Property Tax Credit, you will need your Property Index Number, sometimes called 'parcel number' or 'permanent index number.' This number is located on your county tax bill or assessment notice . . . You may also get this number from your county assessor's office."
