Your mortgage interest should show up as a deduction if you have enough to itemize deductions.

If you do not have enough mortgage interest, taxes, charitable contributions and similar deductions, TurboTax will choose the Standard Deduction instead.

However, please see this article, as there are some limits and regulations on deductible mortgage interest: Mortgage Interest Deduction

It is a program glitch.. I had over 24000.00 interest. multiple 1098s etc. would not show up on worksheet or schedule a. Had to go in and over ride and enter it as one institution to get it to show up. it seems to be program bug?

When you are entering multiple form 1098s into TurboTax it is important to enter the information accurately so the program can calculate any limitations that may apply to your situation.

If you refinanced your mortgage during 2019 on the refinanced mortgage a common issue is putting in an amount for Box 2 for the amount of the balance due on the mortgage.  The information for this box is asking for the balance due on the mortgage as of 01/01/2019.  On a refinanced mortgage the amount is $0.

The same is true if your mortgage was sold during 2019 the amount that belongs in Box 2 is $0

I am having the same problem. No matter what I try, including deleting one of the instances of the 1098 forms (I refi-ed last year), I cannot get my mortgage interest to show up on my itemized deductions.  Help!

It is a small thing, but please review your mortgage interest entries and be sure that you indicated that the loan is secured by your property.  If that is not checked, it will not be claimed on Schedule A.

Thanks AnnetteB6.  I had that checked but it didn't help.  I tried many different changes on the mortgage sheets including deleting them all and entering one at a time but nothing helped.   I was able to find another posting that suggested unchecking the "limit deductions" box on the tax worksheet, which thankfully fixed the issue.  I am not sure what is triggering that box.
