TurboTax Premiere seems to transfer me to the online version when I try to import from Fidelity. This problem has been described in various ways by others but has not been fixed as of the latest update. 3/10/2023

Yeah...for some STRANGE reason...IF you are using the desktop software, you must sign into your TTX account first. This doesn't mean you are actually using the Online version...I "Think" it just means that there may be some special routing involved with the import..
_____
Instead of trying to do it all at the same time, go up to the "File" menu item along the top of the Desktop screen.
Get the dropdown from that and you will see, towards the bottom of the dropdown menu, there is a selection to log into your TTX account. Log in there first (if it doesn't indicate you are logged in already)...then go to the Wages&Income area to initiate the Fidelity download. It might be a cleaner process that way.

One thing to note, though I'm not sure it is true in all situations, but if you are trying to get a "pension/401k" 1099-R from the Fidelity NetBenefits area, those 1099-R imports have never been available to me.
The separate login selection for the regular Fidelity Brokerage have always worked for me for that brokerage data....1099-B/-DIV,-INT,-OID etc. Probably works to import IRA/ROTH-IRA 1099-R forms located there too.
I appreciate your effort, but your suggestion just sends me on the back roads to what I'm guessing is the online version, including TellUsAboutYourself questions and payment methods. Selecting the go-to-TurboTax does not route me to my open return but puts me back on the path to paying for the online version.
It shouldn't do that if you have an existing Intuit account....but I really can't know what you are clicking on if you don't. That doesn't happen for me, but I've had an account for many years, even though I ONLY use the desktop software.
