How do I claim land contract interest I paid before I got a mortgage to pay it off last year?

If you have a private mortgage and did not receive a form 1098, you can claim your mortgage interest. Enter it in TurboTax just as if you had received a form 1098 from a bank.

Enter the person's name you paid interest to, instead of the bank name, as the lender.
