If an individual is not interested in applying for elderly homeowner tax credit in the state of Montana can that schedule of the return just be left blank?

There are a number of yes or no questions that are used to determine eligibility. Not applying for the credit would eliminate the necessity of answering those questions.

You are eligible for this credit if, during the year for which you are claiming the credit, you:

  • Are 62 years of age or older as of December 31,
  • Lived in Montana for at least nine months,
  • Rented, owned, or leased a home in Montana for at least six months, and
  • Have a total household income less than $45,000

The credit is up to $1,150.

The credit is claimed on Schedule 2EC elderly homeowner tax credit.

For more information check Here.

You can delete the schedule if you don't want to claim the credit.

  2. Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.
  3. From the menu, select the form you want to remove.
  4. After the form is generated in the right pane, select the Delete Form button.

If using TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
  3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  4. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  5. Select Delete next to the schedule
