I was F1 in 2018, changed to H1B on 11/19. I am filing 1040NR-EZ for the whole year. Do I need to pay FICA taxes for the last part of the year though? Been here <5yrs

If I need to pay FICA taxes for the period between 11/19 and 12/31, how do I do it?

Once you were no longer a nonresident (11/18) you became responsible for FICA taxes. You would need to work with your employer to have FICA taxes withheld.

Because I received the approval notice in January 2019, I was able to communicate my employer about FICA tax withholding only recently. If the payroll company cannot do retroactive withholding, how do I report 2018 FICA taxes to IRS?

Can someone help? My employer says the payroll company they use cannot modify 2018 FICA withholdings. How do I pay them to IRS?
