Concerning the state refund.......

No - If you used the standard deduction last year (and did not itemize) deductions you do not have to report this amount on your tax return.

Yes - If you itemized deductions last year, please enter the amount of your state tax refund, using these steps:

 

  1. Click on Federal Taxes > Wages & Income [In TT Self-Employed:  Personal > Personal Income > I'll choose what I work on].
  2. In the Other Common Income section, click on the Start/Update box next to State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G.  
  3. On the Did You Get a State or Local Tax Refund Last Year? screen, click the Yes box.
  4. On the next screen, Tell us about your refund, enter the information from your 1099-G.  Click Continue.
