The short term workaround - which is by no means a fix - is to enter the data and then go straight to filing.
You will be able to view the forms that are being sent before they go - check to make sure that the data that you entered is there before you hit send. If it is then you can go ahead and file and save the pdf of your final return.
If the data is not in the forms then do not send them and you will be stuck waiting for a permanent fix.
@RobertB4444 per your reply, how do I view all the forms just before I file. I've efiled using TT online for a number of years but don't remember doing this before (presumably because it's optional?). Thank you for your reply above. Richard
Right before you efile you will get an option that says "View my return" If you click it you will be able to see all of the forms in a pdf.
I may be wrong but I'm 99% certain that TT had exactly the same problem 12 months ago and the workaround for me was to buy a desktop version from Costco...
Can't believe it still isn't fixed!!
The only good news was that it was cheaper at Costco than online.
Can anyone confirm that this year's desktop version fixes the problem????
Thx Dave
@RobertB4444 I did as you recommended. I input the info I did a print form to ensure the form had been generated. TT took me through a federal review and wanted me to fix a box 14 amount on a w2. I check back again and the information is dropped again. Please help me understand why TT wont fix this? It is truly a shockingly bad experience.
Has anybody confirmed that if I go and buy a Desktop version of TurboTax then I will not have the problem ????
Hello Robert,
Since TT is aware of this problem (that Form 8938 is not saved in the return), do you know what is the status of the investigation to correct this problem, which was also previously reported in 2020 and 2021?
