Banks have regulations on what is reported on the 1098, and only they can tell you why they did not include it there. Since it was not listed, you should call and ask them why not. If the amount paid really was property tax, you can still claim it, but may be asked by the IRS for evidence of payment. You can usually obtain such payment evidence on the city or states's web site. I don't pay property tax through my mortgage, so I go there in my state every year to take a screen shot showing receipt of property tax paid.
