Sorry I wasn't clear on my initial question; it is $19,000 not $19
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Go to Federal Taxes tab, then click Deductions & Credits tab, scroll to the bottom of the listing and click the button to indicate you're Done with Deductions. Depending on what you have in your return, you may have a few screens/questions to go through and you'll come to a screen titled We've chosen the Standard Deduction for you.
Check the box to indicate that you'd like to Change my deduction. Next, you'll see a comparison of your total standard deduction and itemized deduction and can choose the one that is greater. Be sure to continue through the rest of the screens so that the software saves this change.
Keep in mind, although you may have entered $19,000 total that many itemized deductions are limited by a percentage of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI - a subtotal on your return). Things like employee job expenses are limited by 2%, medical expenses by 10%, charitable deductions have alternative limitations, etc.
Also if your AGI exceeds limitations, your itemized deduction may be reduced making the standard deduction the greater option (311,300 if married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er), $285,350 if head of household, $259,400 if single, or $155,650 if married filing separately)
