You do not have the option to "turn it down" You just have to wait for the IRS.

Does anybody know if the state of Virginia is also holding refunds due to EITC? I don't think there is such thing as EITC for the state of VA. I can't seem to find anything on their website stating there may be delays.

I got a letter stating that my return is being held. I called and they didn't have an answer for me? The letter did however state I didn't take any action but I am concerned because this never happened before. It said they are reviewing my income and once finished either I would get a notice or my return. So do I have any reason to worry? I did get the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit for claiming a child. It's never taken this long before.

You have nothing to worry about if you filed a true and accurate return ... this is not unusual and in fact is becoming quite common. So don't worry about anything until you get an IRS letter ... then respond as directed with whatever info they request.
