I am living and working abroad

My employer is an overseas university, so I do not receive a W-2 form or any other form related to US taxes. How should I categorize my income?

I am living and working abroad

It will be income even though they did not issue a W-2 or 1099. You can include your income from the university by following these steps:

How to enter Foreign Income

• Go to Federal Taxes

• Select Wages & Income

• Click I'll choose what I work on

• Scroll down the page to the last section Less Common Income and select Show More

• Select Start to the right of Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion

• Go through this section and enter the income that you earned abroad.
