I aim claiming expenses on a car that I traded in last year. Do I select own, lease, or vehicle isn't mine?

I owned the vehicle in 2017, but no longer own it. For tax purposes, is it fair to say I own this vehicle?

You owned it for the period of time that you are deducting expenses for.  So yes, you owned it.
