First, do you have a casualty loss?
If yes, then because hurricane Ian occurred in 2022, your only option is to claim the loss on an amended 2022 return.
Also, because the Disaster Relief act of 2024 changes how disaster losses are reported and deducted, we don't know when the IRS will be able to process an amended return that follows the new rules. The software will calculate the change correctly (I think), but the IRS computers might not accept the amended return until they have been updated. The IRS has not issued any guidance yet. You have until April 2026 to amend a 2022 return, so you aren't under time pressure to figure this out.
A casualty loss is the loss in value to your property from the storm. Sometimes, the loss in value can be approximated by the cost of repairs, and sometimes a before and after appraisal is required. You have to calculate your loss, subtract any insurance payment, and you can claim the difference on your tax return. You can read more here.
