How to change Schedule B 16a and b answer

When you go through the TT business step questions, it asks if you paid a subcontractor, which I did, so responded yes. That automatically seems to check Schedule B 16 a and b "yes". What this doesn't take into account is that I paid the contractor via credit card so that means I am not required to file a 1099 for them (the CC company does this). But the step by step question doesn't allow for this nuance or the ability to directly change Schedule B 16 a and b answers to "no" and "no". What should I do?

How to change Schedule B 16a and b answer

I'm not sure if you can go back and change the answers, but I don't think you have to. The credit card company would not issue a Form 1099-NEC which reports self-employment income paid to a subcontractor. They may issue a Form 1099-K, but that is not the issue here. If you paid a self-employed subcontractor more than $600 during the year you should issue them a Form 1099-NEC. The only situation in which this would not apply would be if the subcontractor was a large company that likely files taxes as a "C" corporation.
