On your tax return you are allowed up to $3,000 per dependent of childcare expense toward the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
If the statement from the childcare does not break out their expense by individual, you can allocate the expense between your dependents. If they all attended for the same number of days you can allocate the amount by equally for each dependent. If the days attended are different you can allocate the total amount by the number of days each attended.
How you allocate the amounts between the different dependent is not important, but it is important that the total of the dependent amounts equals the total amount you are reporting for the provider.
You should list all the Qualifying Persons on your return. If you did not pay childcare expenses for one of the dependents but paid an amount greater than $3,000 on another dependent you are allowed up to $3,000 for each dependent.
Example: Child One $0.00 expenses paid. Child Two you paid $7,000 in childcare. The total childcare expenses for the credit would be $6,000 ($3,000 per child).
