To correct the address of a charitable organization:
What I'm encountering is a problem in the final review, where the issue is a mismatch between the non-editable value of the state (ST) for the charity and the zip code. I moved during the year, and the old state doesn't match the zip code of the charity in the new state
I am having trouble understanding what you are saying. The fact that you moved during the year should not affect the address of the charity.
Or are you saying that there was a second charity in the new state with a different address, and you used the old state but the new zip code?
What am I missing?
I am having a similar problem. When reviewing my federal return, I was told that I needed to change a zip code, but the zip code is not the problem. The problem is that the state is entered as NY rather than MA. When I go to 2019 donations and try to edit the problem charity, I am only allowed to change the name and not the address. When I tried to reenter it a new donation, I was not asked to enter any address at all.
I went to Its Deductible, but I could not see any way of changing the address there either.
I had the same problem because of a typo. Delete the charity and then re- add it. It doesn't ask for an address the second time - but make sure name includes correct state in it. Then TT treats is as a new charity -and more importantly the error goes away!!
I'll try that, it didn't matter last year since charity is not included for refund but it annoys me to see it every year. : )
In TurboTax for 2022, I find no "Show More" button under charities, so also am unable to correct address error on form 8283. Having to delete and enter multiple property transactions seems the only way to go, from what I have been able to find. Being unable to jump to the form for such a simple correction is frustrating.
W Use it’s deductible. It’s easier to edit it and it uploads into TurboTax and it’s free. If you’ve already done it without is deductible you need to delete and re-add the charity. We had to do this two years ago this year it worked fine except the import wasn’t intuitive.
