How do I deduct a business loss. I work for many hours and they refused to pay me

I worked as a consultant and  the company I was working for refused to pay me for over 4000 dollars worth of work that I billed for

Sorry You can't deduct income you never received.  You will just have less income to be taxed on.  You take the loss by still deducting all your expenses but not your time or labor.

You might file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as well as Small Claims Court.
