How do I claim a capital loss of property from 2015? Sold land at a loss in 2015 and I found out this year that we could have claimed $3000/yr on taxes.

I have attempted to amend a prior return on TurboTax and cannot figure out how to add form 1040 Schedule D.

A tax refund for tax year 2015 will not be paid.  For a 2015 tax refund the federal tax return had to be filed on or before April 15, 2019.

TurboTax does not support tax year 2015.

Thanks Donna, but I don’t want to go back to 2015… that’s just when the land sold. I’d like to amend 2021, 2020… etc

What Don is telling you is that you cannot claim a 2015 loss after 2019.   The loss has to be on the tax return for the year that it occurred. 

The IRS does not allow that.  However, if you find you owed them taxes, there is no limit to how long you can pay back taxes.
