Thanks, @TomK2023! I followed your instructions & in the end, the software is still saying that I'm due a $7 foreign tax credit (even though I made it clear that I had no foreign income). 😩 I hope you can either help me further or refer me to a TurboTax employee who can look into this issue.
It is possible that foreign taxes paid are listed on a Form 1099-INT or 1099-DIV you entered reporting interest or dividend income, see box 6 or 7 on the 1099 forms. If so, you are probably entitled to a credit for those taxes. Also, it is possible you may have a foreign tax credit carryover from a previous year, as that can happen if you aren't able to use the entire credit in the year it began.

To clarify, did you receive and report a 1099 INT or a 1099 DIV?
