How can I deduct training, certification, interview prep, and other expenses related to job search?
You can deduct job search expenses, but only for searching for a new job in the same line of work that you are already in. Certification and training for a new trade or profession are not deductible.
Job search expenses are claimed as a Miscellaneous job expense. Go to Federal Taxes, and choose Deductions and Credits.
Scroll down to Employment Expenses, and choose Job-Related Expenses.
