Home Office Deduction

On the California State, I keep getting an Employee Home Office Worksheet and it wants me to input Line 2.  I tried to delete the form but apparently it defaults from the Federal.  I do not have a Home Office.  I was curious and explored but did not input any info and I do not want it as part of my return.  What can I do?     Thank you.

Home Office Deduction

Yes, you can delete the Home Office Deduction. These details are reported on Form 8829.

To delete the form, I recommend going back to the original point of entry.

Click the link for the directions to Enter the Home Office Deduction to get you back to the entry.

Then, to verify it is gone, follow these steps:

  • From the left menu, select Tax Tools
  • Tools
  • Delete a Form
  • Scroll to Form 8829 and click Delete, confirm the deletion
  • Look for any related worksheets regarding the Home Office and delete those, too
