I ended up on site consulting often in 2019. My consulting business is registered as a home based business and I still do work from there of course, but I was on site consulting for I believe 160 days, with about a 7 mile one-way trip so 14 miles round trip.
This is the first time I've ever explored deducting miles and it feels like it is a lot, so I'm trying to find out if I can deduct them, if there's a limit, and how to best handle this on my taxes.
Thanks!

your home is your base of operations. so business travel to and from your home is deductible on schedule C. your choices are standard mileage. if this is your first year using standard mileage allows you to switch back and forth each year between standard mileage and actual expenses. use actual expenses the first year and it must be used every year until you change vehicles.
