Getting Form 2441: Provider amount paid-2 must be entered. and shows yr 2016 Form2441 Details, but Iam doing 2017 taxes. for yr 2017, I don't have any Child care expense.

I can't figure out what Turbo Tax wants. It keeps saying I have an error on Form 2441: Provider amount paid-2 must be entered. Then it asks me for Provider amount paid

1. I am filing taxes for year 2017.
2. it shows Form 2441 with prefilled details of 2016.
3. I do not have any Child care expense for 2017
4. under Federal/
Child Tax Credit, I was not asked and I did not add any child care benefits.

so why is this keep asking again and again?

If you had Child or Dependent care last year but not this year and you are having trouble in the review section of TurboTax, go back to the federal interview and answer No to the question,  did you pay for child and dependent care  in 2017 and then go back through the review section and see if that resolves your issue.

To get back to this section in TurboTax, go here:

  • Federal
  • Deductions & Credits
  • You may need to click on Skip to see all tax breaks
  • Scroll down to You and Your Family and click on Show More
  • Child and Dependent Care Credit
  • Start or update
