What that question means is are you, the taxpayer, or your spouse if filing a joint return, listed on someone else's tax return as their child so that they can qualify for an earned income credit?
This question seems to be asking if I (as the TAXPAYER) am a qualifying child on someone else's taxes?!?
Doesn't that seem to be very unlikely? I am not a qualifying child. However, my children are qualifying children.
So then I need to select "Not qualifying child." Odd.
It could happen that someone with children is also someone else's qualifying child for EIC.
See this tax tips article for more information regarding the Earned Income Credit.
