Energy Credit rebate, and financed

Hello

I had a new Furnace, Water Heater, air conditioner, and attic insulation installed in my existing home in 2024. Total cost was 17,000, less rebates of around 5000, net cost = 12,000.  This has been financed to be paid over 10 years.  Vendor gave me full pricing of these 4 different products, and a single rebate amount.

Question 1 - How should I spread the rebate amount amongst the 4 different products (Furnace, Water Heater, air conditioner, and attic insulation).    Should I take a % of rebate, and subtract from the full price listed by the vendor (without rebate) for each product, to come up with a net cost (after rebate) which I can enter in Turbo tax?

Question 2 - The amount is financed, however, should I enter full 12,000 towards 2024 energy credits, since the work is done?

Thank you

Any reasonable method can be used for calculating the allocation of the rebate. The method you mention seems reasonable. You can use the full price in the year the units are installed to calculate the credit.
