Earned Income Credit - Turbotax denied it, IRS says yes

Turbotax Premier 2021 said my son did not qualify for the Earned Income Credit because of his age. After filing, he got a letter from the IRS saying that their records show that he does qualify for it. He was asked to review publication 596 and then submit a form to get the credit which he did.  Clearly he qualifies for the credit, which we would have never known had the IRS not contacted him about it.  So much for the Turbotax guarantee of a maximum refund.  Watch out Turbotax users!

Whose program said he did not qualify, yours or his?

Earned Income Credit - Turbotax denied it, IRS says yes

We use the same product - Turbotax Premier.  He has his own tax return.  He filed single and claimed himself only.  I filed single and claimed myself only.  2020 and 2021.  We use the same software but our returns are not related to each other in any way.  I posted this on behalf of my son, it is not related to my return.  We tried calling Turbotax multiple times but were on hold an inordinate period of time and hung up.  Also, I read all of these 5 star customer ratings but cannot figure out how to leave a rating.  My son has used Turbotax since he has begun filing returns and I have used Turbotax for 15 years or more.  It has never been an easy product to use, but it never occurred to me that it was not giving credits that it should be giving.  You have to be a tax expert to use this product, the questions it asks require knowing what of the tax code applies to you and what does not.  I've put up with this all these years, but this is inexcusable.  It says there is a "guarantee" but how does Turbotax make good on that?  I could not find anyway to pursue that.
