Do I need to list my charitable contributions if I am taking the standard deduction?

Is there any reason to list my charitable contributions if I know I will take the standard deduction? I have about $4,000 worth

Do I need to list my charitable contributions if I am taking the standard deduction?

If you are using standard deduction then those donations will have no effect on your federal tax due or refund.   State laws vary, so you could enter them if you think it might matter for your state.

 

 

The following states allow you to itemize deductions on just the state return: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, and Wisconsin,
