My wife's son who lives with us is 27 and considered disabled by the state. He received a monthly check for SSDI. Can we still claim him as a dependent? He does not work so has no source of income other then the SSDI check.

    Yes, as long as you have provided more than half of his support in 2019 and you meet the other qualifications. For more information please view the FAQ about qualifications for claiming a dependent

     

    Note: You do not include his disability income on your tax return. It is considered nontaxable income and would only be reported by your dependent if he had other income to report.
