My self employed husband died 2022. My house roof started leaking in 2022. The plaster started falling from the ceiling. My only source of heat were the wires in the plaster ceilings. The roof had to be replaced before more damage resulted from the leaks. The housing insurance company would not pay any of the cost of more than $36000 to replace the roof. They said it wasn't from hail damage as the roof contracted had said. My 20 foot by 12 foot carport aluminum roof located beside the house is all covered with dents from hail damage. Is any of the cost of replacing the roof tax deductible?

Unfortunately, none of the expenses for replacing your roof for your personal home is tax deductible. You should keep track of the amounts that you paid to add to the cost basis of your house if you should sell your home. That expense can be used to reduce any gain that you might have.
We are sorry for the loss of your husband.

Are there any deductions for the funeral, casket, burial plot of the deceased taxpayer? Nothing was prepaid and the cost was way more than twice the $10,000 life insurance policy.
I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, there are no deductions available for these expenses.
