DEDUCTION FOR PROPERTY TAX

When I try to enter Property Tax as a deduction, I get this message: "we need a bit more info to see if you qualify".  Pray tell, WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED?

DEDUCTION FOR PROPERTY TAX

I'm pretty sure you only get that message if you enter foreign property tax. Did you enter the property tax in the box for "Foreign real estate taxes." Real estate tax is only deductible on property in the United States. If you paid real estate tax on property in another country, don't enter it in TurboTax at all. It's not deductible.

Sorry, I have no foreign tax of any kind. But thanks for the effort.

Please clarify, because we are not sure what screen you are seeing. Can you tell us what information TurboTax is asking for if you select Continue after getting the "we need a bit more info to see if you qualify" message?

DEDUCTION FOR PROPERTY TAX

I get the same message.  The choices on this screen are:  "Skip for now" and "Enter info".  Clicking on both results in the same thing - reverts back to the "Your 2024 Deductions & Credits" screen.  There is definitely something wrong with the "Enter info" selection.

We are currently looking into this issue.

Please make sure you have run all updates. If this doesn’t solve the issue, then you can switch to form mode and enter the property tax directly on Schedule A. Please make sure you do not select to overwrite anything in form mode.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax desktop
  2. Click on “Forms” icon on the top right to switch to form mode
  3. Select “Schedule A’ on he left
  4. Enter the amount under “Taxes You Paid
