Daughter Serving a 2 year Church Mission

My daughter left on a church service mission on May 27, 2024 for two-years. I am not sure how to claim if she has been living with me and if I provided 1/2 her support. Turbo Tax says "If your child was away at college, count the number of months away as having lived with you". She was not a college, but was away on a mission. Can I count those months she was away also?

It depends- this would probably qualify as a temporary absence because she does intend to return, it would be similar to college or military service. However, if the mission is providing her living accommodations and food, the IRS could argue that you did not provide more than half of her support.

I am paying for her while she is gone, so I think I can claim that I provide half her support. Thanks that helps.
