Can I write off pmi?

Sorry no. Unfortunately homeowners are no longer able to deduct their Mortgage Insurance Premiums paid in connection with the purchase loan for their personal residence.

The mortgage insurance deduction began in 2006, and was last extended in 2015 by the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (2015 PATH Act), but only through December 31, 2016.
