Can I use itemized deductions instead of the standard deduction to maximize my solar credit? My itemized deductions are lower than the standard which gives me no credit.

I have tried it both ways and found i get a credit using itemized deductions. But is that acceptable to the IRS?

you have the option to select "itemized" even if it is smaller that "Standard".

TurboTax makes it hard to find, I have heard.
