Can I deduct property taxes that I paid for my 68 year old special needs brother’s home (he inherited it from our parents) on my return?

No. You can only deduct the property taxes if you are on the deed and are legally responsible for paying them.

If you did not own the home you cannot deduct the property tax.

See OP's other post asking if he can claim Brother as a dependent  If so, would that make a difference?.

I was told I can claim his medical xp since I provided more than 50% support.  That’s what prompted my question regarding his property taxes that I paid.  Thanks.
