Can I deduct adjustments for items paid by seller in advance on the HUD sheet from closing?
I know I can deduct property taxes paid by the seller in advance until the end of the year but the issue is that for PA property taxes are ''school taxes''. The school tax period shows 9/18/15 to 6/30/2016 on the HUD sheet. My closing date was 9/18. If I can only claim until the end of 2015, how do I figure out what those 4 months from Sept to December were? Or can I claim the entire amount despite it going from 9/18/15 to 6/30/16?

On the closing statement, if the seller paid school property taxes in advance and you reimbursed the seller for those property taxes, you essentially paid those taxes at the closing. Thus, you can deduct the full amount you paid in 2015.
