@RaifH My mortgage was transferred from lender1 to lender2.
Both of the 1098s have the same mortgage origination date
but only the second (latest) lender has the mortgage acquisition date.
The old lender does not have the acquisition date.
I exactly did the same. "Answer No for the old loan to Let's see if this is the most recent form for this loan and Yes for the new one."
I deleted all and re-entered the exact same thing.
It deducted my whole amount. Solved.
I am having this same issue in 2023. I go to the worksheet suggested and can't change the box from Yes to No.
This has been a known issue for 4 years and Intuit still has no fix.
I have called customer service now twice to report this issue. (2 hours the first time, almost 1 hour so far on the second). The first time they closed my case without giving me any explanation. The second time they sent me a blank 1098, then told me not to report my mortgage interest (essentially lie to the IRS). It seems like this should fall under the accuracy guarantee and TurboTax should refund the money of anyone who has experienced this issue.
I am using the TurboTax Deluxe Desktop version for Mac.
Folks, not on point but TurboTax is having a problem with transferring deductible mortgage interest to Schedule A. My program was NOT transferring mortgage interest to Schedule A, saw TurboTax notification that they are having issue and signed up for updates / notifications.
Odd as worked last week, not now. One mortgage and not subject to limitations.
