I moved in 2017 and converted my former home into a rental property. It was occupied with renters as of September 2017. I have a property management company who signed the lease with the tenants, collected deposits, and collects the rent each month. The property manager takes a percentage as a fee, pays the lawn maintenance company, and sends the remaining rent income to me via direct deposit each month.
The property manager issued me a 1099 totaling the rent income passed through to me for 2017.
Should I also have issued a 1099 to the property manager for the fees they withheld, and/or should I do this for future years?
