I'm curious how getting paid online tax prep help works. What are common pricing models, amounts? Is it like a back and forth written 'chat'? I'd prefer a verbal conversation, with a Zoom connection being better. That way I could screen share dos & info. So how does online tax help usually work?
For instance, I'd be willing to pay for help with questions I just posted here about depreciation on business equipment that was not updated to my TurboTax Fede...
Thanks for any info.
Dave

It seems like you are asking about the help from a "Live" expert. There are several versions of online "Live"--priced according to the version you use such as Deluxe or Premium, and there is a new option this year for users of the desktop download to use help from live experts for a fee. We cannot tell what version of the software you are using. The fees vary according to the software you are using.

Live expert help with desktop software--- seems to cost $60
Thank you very much for the speedy reply and the links to the "Live Expert" for the various software versions.
I have Home & Bus. desktop for Mac. As you mentioned and the link confirms, the "Live Expert" help is only available for Desktop versions starting with the 2024 tax year software. This is good for me when I get to my 2024 TTax filing. Right now I am working on '20 & '21 State, then '22 & '23 Fed & State.
But great news on a similar path. My wife contacted our old EA who had moved to AZ back in 2020. I have a Zoom call scheduled appointment with him for Wednesday morning. The bonus with help from my actual old EA, he has all my previous tax records in his proprietary software. I have a hope that in addition to advice of how to go forward from where I am in my depreciation circumstance, he will be able to give me the exact 2020 State 3885A amounts to fill in for lines 5,6,7, and 8a or 8b... Maybe even for 2021+?, because I have not added any new equipment since what was Sect. 179'ed all in 2019. The only new equip. I put in service since 2019 was a new MacBook in 2022, which I will Sect. 179 for that year. I am hopefull! 😀
