Hello,
This is the first year I can claim myself on my tax return. My parents are not able to claim me this year. I accidentally put that I would be claimed as a dependent. I am going to amend my return. Will it make my refund higher? I changed the status of me being claimed as a dependent and there was no change in refund.
Thanks!

the answer depends on your taxable income and what was used as the standard deduction. look at your tax return (it's on the first page of form 1040 - lines 11a and 11b - post those and we can figure it out. )
If the standard deduction on line 11a is $12,200 before and after the change, it's not going to change the tax due.
@NCperson is correct. The standard deduction maximum for single filers is $12,200. If your filing status is single, that may not change your deduction, your taxable income, or the amount of your refund.
However, there may be additional credits or deductions that you qualify for now that you are no longer claimed as a dependent. Education credits are a great example. Review the deductions and credits section of the software and enter anything that applies to you. You may have a chance to increase your refund.
Hello,
Thanks for the responses! There is nothing on either 11a or 11b. Thanks.
