Alimony deduction cap?

My alimony deduction alone is $21,000 and Turbo still recommends the standard deduction of $12,000.

When I switch to itemized deductions Turbo shows only $6,000 of deductions.  I can find nothing in the IRS publications about a cap on alimony deductions.

What is going on???

Alimony deduction cap?

Alimony payments are not deductions on Schedule A. They are an "Adjustment to Income" that is reported on Schedule 1 of your return.

Alimony deduction cap?

So you get to deduct alimony in addition to the Standard Deduction.

Alimony deduction cap?

Sounds great, however that would be over $33K of deductions - seems a $268 refund is mighty low.  I'll proceed and see what the final picture looks like, if I've still questions I'll add comment.
thanks!

This year the Standard Deduction will be doubling so many people will be switching to the Standard Deduction.  And there is a max 10,000 limit (5,000 MFS) of property tax and state taxes "SALT".  And you can only deduct Medical that’s over 7.5% of your AGI.  Also the deduction for job expenses have been suspended.
