My 3rd child was born in Feb 2021. We never received the Advance child tax credit for our child born in 2021.
When I view schedule 8812 on line 8 it shows the correct amount of 10200 (greater than 6 year old = 3000, < 6 year old = 3600, < 6 year old = 3600 totaling 10200). The issue is that the amounts on lines g is 8497 and then line h is 1703 which is the amount we are owed.
However that is not correct as to what we have actually been given and what we are owed.
we received half of 6600 = 3300 for our 2 children born prior to 2021 via monthly payments in 2021. So we are owed 3300 from that.
And then we are owed still the 3600 for our 3rd child that was born in Feb 2021.
total amount owed in credits should be 6900.
Any help to get the schedule 8812 corrected would be appreciated.

When you enter your personal and dependent information TurboTax calculates your Child Tax Credit (CTC). Initially, TurboTax calculates your return as if you received the entire amount of CTC you were eligible to receive and no credit is applied. You will need to enter the amount of CTC you received, this will allow TurboTax to calculate any additional CTC you are entitled to, TurboTax will apply that credit to your tax return.
To enter the CTC you have received follow these steps:

And Be sure you said the new baby lived with you the WHOLE YEAR! Go back and check that.
If you had a child born in 2021- Add them under My Info. You need to answer 2 questions…..
Did your child live with you for the whole year? Answer YES even if they were born late in the year (even on Dec 31).
Then was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO.
Check 1040 lines 19 and 28 and schedule 8812 for the Child Tax Credit. It may have been added before you noticed or got to that section.
Before filing, You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return
Thank you for your answer, I was able to add the CTC for our child born in 2021.
However that brings me to my next question, prior to entering the corrected info for CTC it showed I was receiving a refund of around 9400, however after entering the correct CTC amounts received and owed it lower my refund by 3000. Not sure how that works as we still have 6900 owed for the CTC. I would think that when we had not received the 6900 CTC my refund would have increased by that amount.
To be sure I've done this correctly, on form 1040 line 28 it shows 6900.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
At the beginning as soon as you entered all your children it gave you the FULL amount so your refund was too high. Then at the end you enter what you already got so it is subtracted. Sounds like you have the right amount on line 28. So you are getting it as a credit.
