Ability to deduction a large sales tax purchase from a different state than where I live

I live in Colorado.  I purchased a motorcycle in California and they charged $1432.61 sales tax when purchased motorcycle there.  How can I use this large sales tax in my tax return?

take it as a large purchase sales tax deduction on schedule A.  however, note that the total deduction for taxes on schedule A can't exceed $10K.
