Yes just type in all 0 across the top lines and you should be good to go.
yes I believe turbotax has a bug because even though you change that option to no it doesnt store it. I tried saving it and it still says yes it you go back in
I agree with this poster. Yes true that Turbo tax does not reject but Turbo is evn when you say no to the 1095A it still transmits "yes" and therefore the IRS is rejectting because it is expectting the 1095A and 8962. Turbotax needs to fix that question. this is clearly a turbotax bug!
it is the question about the 1095A I have marked it no everytime and it changes it to yes... TURBOTAX ERROR!!!!!
this is NOT an awesome response as it is asking you to enter false information. BAD advise and excuse for bad programming. The IRS has a solution by adding a PDF file called ACA Explanation stating you can tell them why you should not have a 1095A but Turbotax does not have in the version I have that does not allow me to attach a PDF file. I am anrgy too!. I paid too much for not to have that option added to fix this error. Shame on you Turbotax

If you didn't have marketplace healthcare and you didn't get a 1095-A, then you don't need the 8962 form.
I would like you to check what you have posted by following the steps below:
If the program continues to give you an error after marking "No" to the above questions, then Follow these steps to delete the Form 1095-A:
@thatirishguyy
Guess what your wrong the IRS clearly has instructions on how to fix this I'm on the phone with a "expert
" and y'all won't listen IRS website clearly states to do this
Why can't you just attach this form for us?
The issue is a combination of things. It could be a number of different things, but if you've dug this far the issue is likely something similar to the following situation:
I left my job in November of 2022 and did not get a new job. I also opted not to get insurance through the marketplace. When my employer terminated my employment and sent me COBRA papers, it seemed to automatically "trigger" our government to expect me to start using insurance through the marketplace. I don't know all the technical information, but basically, the marketplace gets a "placeholder" for me to opt to purchase through them and the IRS also receives that placeholder as well. So, in other words, the IRS is expecting that we DID purchase this insurance, whether we did or not. I can't blame TurboTax for the stupidity of our government procedures.
However, TurboTax does not allow us to attach our own documents to our return. That throws a big wrench in the mix as the instructions for fixing this error (per irs.gov bottom of page) tell you to make a document titled "ACA EXPLANATION" and attach it to efile without getting the error. Which leaves us with two options:
Paper file (gross 😥)
Try the 1 or 0 fix to make the 1095a attach (I'll be attempting this in a bit and will advise I used this method. 0 for the top 2 boxes, 1s across January. Don't put anything in any other boxes. I lost $1 from my return but it did get accepted. Not sure of any other repercussions, attempt at your own risk.)
My question to TurboTax (seeing as this is an ongoing problem, niche as it may be): Why not add some checkboxes to the 1095a questionairre that can automatically create an ACA EXPLANATION form and attach it to the return? eg; "I did not purchase marketplace coverage but the Federal return was rejected" with an info box
Sorry I didn't use the specific form names. I'm still trying to get mine done, frustrated. I may come back later and edit or reply with the specific information.
I'm trying to submit my son's tax return. He has medical insurance thru his employer. He does not have a plan thru the ACA marketplace and hasn't all of 2022. Turbo Tax marked that he received a 1095-A. I changed it to a no TWICE. But, Turbo Tax keeps changing it back to a yes... so his return has been rejected twice now.
I just checked the answer to the question again... and Turbo Tax has changed the answer back to a yes AGAIN.
How can I get around this obvious issue with Turbo Tax?
BUT, it's Turbo Tax that keeps changing my "NO" answer to whether I received a 1095-A. I change it... and Turbo Tax goes to the next page and then the step-by-step. THEN, I go back just to verify that the answer is still "NO" and Turbo Tax has changed the answer to a "YES" again. My son's return has been rejected twice already. And, if I resubmit it again... even after I changed the answer to a "NO", the submitted return will show that I said "YES" when I did not.
Turbo Tax needs an immediate update to fix this issue.
My son has had medical insurance with his employer all of 2022. He did not have coverage thru the Marketplace and will not receive a 1095-A. He actually has a Marketplace account from years ago when he did have ACA coverage and there's NO 1095-A on file for him for 2022 there.
Please update Turbo Tax to fix YOUR issue.
