TurboTax 2018 automatically downloaded FL and CO following my entry of primary residence and refund of state tax collected as nonresident. I don't want nor need either of these. I would like to have NY available. How do I get rid of both FL and CO, so I can use my free state (NY)? The program will not let me continue without paying for CO--and FL has no state income tax, but TT insists on my use of FL as my free state. Thank you.

Here's how to clear (delete) a state return in the TurboTax for Windows CD/Download software:
To start a new State Return, select the Step-by-Step icon in the upper right corner, and then select the State Taxes tab.
This did not work for me, I had an issue with my computer so I copied the files and loaded TurboTax 2018, I then mistakenly selected Ohio ( I moved from Ohio to FL) now when I try to load my return I get error 190 and it will not let me load the return, so I cannot do what you suggested. I tried to unload the software and re install but nothing seems to work.
You can contact a TurboTax agent and he or she can send you the products you need and refund any fees you paid that were improper. Here is how you can contact TurboTax:
