Why do I need a SIC code for state return in Turbotax Business?

Why do I need a SIC code for state return in Turbotax Business?

My tax accountant did not file one last year with my return.  They only entered the NAICS code.

Why do I need a SIC code for state return in Turbotax Business?

SIC stands for Standard Industrial Classification, which are four digit codes that are used by the US government to identify the primary business of the establishment. In some instances, there could be several SIC codes that match to a single NAICS code. Due to this factor, it is important that you enter both your SIC code and NAICS code.

You can locate your code on the page SIC Code Lookup Directory
