You are not required to enter information from your SC Individual VIP Certification Form into your SC tax return. If your employer has provided you with a form stating that you have earned the minimum number of points established by the State Fire Marshal during the year, then you can claim the volunteer deduction on your SC-1040 form.
To do so, navigate back into your South Carolina tax return, and click Edit next to Income to go into the topic. Look for Public Service, and click Start next to Volunteer income. Then, enter the type of volunteer work, and the amount of income received. Your deduction would be based on the amount you entered.
