When and where do I enter the estimated NM state taxes for my business?

I live in New Mexico. I have a small side business I use to supplement my income from my day job.

I've registered my side business with the state of New Mexico. Twice a year I must enter what I've made in the previous 6 months. They calculate what I owe, which I then pay. I've done this for 2020.

However, I'm totally clueless as to where and when I enter that information into TurboTax. I'm in the BUSINESS tab, Business Income and Expenses portion of the TurboTax interview, but nothing at this point seems to involve this information. Am I missing it or is it somewhere else in TurboTax?

When and where do I enter the estimated NM state taxes for my business?

Yes, it's somewhere else.

I assume that you are filing Schedule C for your business, right? In this case, your business tax is integrated into your personal tax.

Do a Search (upper right) for estimated taxes paid and click on the jump-to link (Mac users will have to find it in the Topics List). NOTE, just type estimated taxes paid and hit Enter - ignore all the suggested Search terms.

This will bring you where you can enter federal, state, and local estimated taxes paid, as well as paid with the extension or carried over from the prior year. Just look carefully and you'll see the reference to state estimated taxes.

Thank you, @BillM223 . Looks to me like I haven't gotten to that point in the interview process. I'll save your answer and continue with the interview. I'm hoping TurboTax will tell me when I get there. If it doesn't, then I'll come back to your answer here.

The thing that confuses taxpayers is that this input section is part of the federal return - it's not part of the state interview where you would expect it (nor part of the Schedule C interview).

You might find it easier to jump straight to it lest you forget.

If I do jump straight to it then how do I return to where I am in the TurboTax interview?

Well, you could try using the Back button (lower left on the interview screen, NOT the back key in your browser) - this usually won't hurt your answers.

However, if this is a concern, then do what you originally planned, continue the interview and if at the end, you haven't seen this, then you can make the jump them.

Sorry, we tax pros spend all of our time jumping around to specific points so it didn't occur to me that you might want to follow the interview.

Do it the way you are comfortable with.
